George leaned over as the plane came to its final halt to offboard the team. “So, what’s the plan, Agent Gentry?”

Rachel pointed to the front of the Princeville Airport’s pickup and delivery area. “I have a black offroad SUV waiting for us outside the airport. We’ll head out to the site and check things out, then head back to our hotel. I booked us at The Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas. Go figure that the others were booked solid.”

“I take it we are pressed for time on this crime scene. As usual, the heavy rains are coming fast. You can see them pulling from the west.” Keith glanced over to a distant thunderhead charging fast across the mountains. Its blue and purplish arcs caused everyone to groan. “It looks like it’ll be another fun time in nature’s watery splendor. Did you make sure we had extra rain ponchos this time, Agent Gentry?”

Rachel nodded as she grabbed her overnight bag from beside her leg to leave the small aircraft. “We always bring extra rain ponchos, Agent Benton. Even when it’s a bright shiny day. You, of all people, know how fast a monsoon rainstorm can race in on a crime scene.”

Keith chuckled and adjusted his seat belt. “Absolutely. But I’m pretty sure the rookie didn’t. This should be a fun night for him.”

“I must say I’m impressed.” Bella grinned at Keith and pointed back to Logan. He already had adorned a green Stearn raincoat complete with pants and rubber boots.

Keith shook his head. “You’ve got to be kidding me.”

George chuckled. “Don’t worry, Agent Benton. In about ten minutes when the outside jungle heat kicks up in that rubber-sealed suit, he’ll be pouring sweat and ripping the whole suit off. I promise you that much.”

“It’s actually got an A/C unit in it,” Logan said, speaking up for the first time since the plane had taken off.

George and Keith both frowned in surprise. “Really?” they asked in unison.

“I didn’t know they made that,” Bella said.

Logan grinned. “No, they don’t. But I figured I had to get one over on you guys for a minute.”

The team whooped in laughter as they exited the plane, none of them wanting to spare even a moment to think about the horrors that awaited them on Kauai.
